With so many different webshop systems to choose from it can be a true nightmare to find the right one for your need. So today we are going to take a look at some of the larger systems and see how you can find the right one for your needs. I live in Aalborg and normally work with webdesign, seo and online marketing for clients, so to day I will focus a little bit on various webshop systems.

WordPress One of the most popular webshop systems these days are of course wordpress. It's easy to use, got tons of neat functions out of the box, and if it doesn't have the function you need, there are thousands of plugins which add new functionality to the website. And best of all it's a free system. It's also the system with most premade themes for, so if you don't want to spend a furtune getting everyting designed from the ground and up, you can always go with a predesigned theme and get a webdesign agency to polish the design for you. 7/10 new webshops here in 2021 are actually based on the WordPress/WooCommerce system. So it's a good and solid system you that's ideal for smaller companies who doesn't require multistore or multilangage features (not that you can't do it in wordpress, there are just much better systems for this).

Another really popular solution are the hosted shopping system Shopify. Tons of both smaller and larger webshops are using Shopify these days. It's cheap to get started with, and it's very stable. Many people arn't to fond of the online interface, especially if you have worked with other webshop systems like WooCommerce or Magento before. If this is your first webshop, you most likely won't find those things annoying. I am not a huge fan of Shopify, but for some projects it's the right solution.

Another great webshop system are the German based system shopware. It's a bit expensive to get a website up and running in this system, but for most people it's totally worth the additional cost. It's much cheaper tham most Magento solutions, but most costly than your typical Shopware or Wordpress solution. It got many great features right out of the box, and it's super fast. The only issue with this system is that a large part of it's coders are in based in germany, so many of the support forums are in German. Otherwise a really great system which I can totally recommend. The other week I saw a huge sporting and fitness webshop based on this system which was one of the best shops I have seen yet in this niche.

Another system that deserves to be mentioned here are Magento. It used to be something similar to Shopware, but have moved on to focus more on larger companies. It's often a quite expensive solution. But for some companies it will be the best possible system as it's fast, stable and easy to work with. I have done a few magento websites and always been pretty impressed with the many features. But it's a complicated system to work with for a webdesigner, which is also one of the reasons it's more expensive than many other shopping systems.
That was a little bit of information about some of the more popular webshop systems people use here in 2021. If you are unsure what you need, I would say talk to a few developers and see what they recommend in your case, and then check up on the systems they recommend to see if other people also recommend it. There are way to many poor systems out there, and if you choose the wrong one (as I have often seen) you might end up having to pay for a whole new system in a year or sooner. I can't tell you which is the right choice for you, as that depends on your business model and what you are selling, which 3.part tools you need to integrate in your systems and such.
For multilanguage I would typically recommend Shopware or Magento as they do a great job here. But take some time and do a little research, so you find the best possible webshop system for your needs. It's not an easy task, but it's one of the most important tasks you need to do, if you can on starting any type of E-commerce venture.
